A Bit of Midway History
The push for both the airport and the
industrial park was begun in 1964 as
"an act of faith by a group of local businessmen who were
convinced that the area needed to take a bold step if it was to continue
its advancement in industry and other fields."
-- The Baxter Bulletin, March 18, 1965
These men formed the non-profit Industrial Development Corporation of
the Ozarks which developed the airport and industrial park facility,
depending only on their own funds and the financial input of the citizens of the Twin Lakes area
and no federal funding.
